Castlemore Quarter Horses

Castlemore Quarter Horses was founded in 1985 with our very first registered quarter horse “Bonnie Blue Jay”. Bonnie became the corner stone to our breeding program and a very loyal and cherished friend. Bonnie’s gentle, loving and patient ways won the heart of everyone who met her. It has been a life time dream of mine and my daughter, Karen to raise good minded, eye catching, athletic individuals with good conformation that will grow into willing partners. We believe that riding should be an enjoyable experience for you and your horse and a good disposition is a great place to start.

Matt Terri and GradyHorses have been a passion that has been passed down through the generations from Grampa Mulvena with his Standardbreds and Grampa Taylor with his love for his Thoroughbreds. My son Matthew, missed out on this addiction for these wonderful companions and chooses to enjoy the motorized side of things. He is out at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta where he works and lives with the sweetest gal in the world, Terri. They have been blessed with the addition of a beautiful baby boy Grady Jackson Sewell! Maybe he’ll be the next little cowboy! Gramma bought him a horse for the Xmas of 2010, it comes complete with wheels and it also rocks. Those Castlemore horses are just so versatile! We don’t get nearly enough time to enjoy their company but that seems to be the pace of life these days.

Corey, Karen and MacKennaKaren’s husband, Corey has also been bitten by the horse bug and joins our team. We have quite the round table sessions filled with the day to day management and maintenance of the ranch plus the horse talk that MacKennagoes on forever. Their first little horse enthusiast, MacKenna Kate Ellis was born April 4, 2007 and has brought with her the same horse crazy genes that run true through the generations. From the time MacKenna was 3 months old she would squeal with delight at the sight of a horse. MacKenna has now been joined by her two baby sisters that were born January 20th, 2011. Ava and AddisonAva and Addison are the newest members of the Castlemore crew and everyone is waiting to see if they will have the love for horses that the rest of the gals do. We truly enjoy our horses and are very proud of their accomplishments. We have met a lot of wonderful people over the years and look forward to continuing our friendships. Horse people are really a breed all by themselves and we can’t say enough about the kindness we’ve experienced.

We can’t talk about our team without mentioning our trainers/good friends, Shantel and Sholeh Berteig. Besides being incredibly talented trainers, they never fail to be there with encouragement and support when we need it the most.

We have added a second stallion to our barn that we are very excited about. High Country Dun It joins our good sire, Docs Movin Out. We have been crossing Hollywood” on our “Dually” fillies and sisters. He has the same fantastic disposition that we insist upon in our breeding program. Hollywood is that good buckskin color and has a pedigree full of performance horses . We saw our first foal crop from him in 2009 and we are absolutely tickled with them. Hollywood has produced those good buckskin/dun babies consistently with his good kind disposition. We are more than happy with the Dually/Hollywood cross and are looking forward to spring and the new models. We will stand both our stallions this year to a limited amount of outside mares. We invite you to come meet our horses and enjoy some of the southern hospitality at Castlemore.
